Wenger has delivered the latest team news in the build up to the West Ham clash this weekend, here's a link to the article on the official club website. It's unusual for the Manager to give the team news on a Wednesday, such is life I suppose, anyhow here's what he said:
"Chamberlain has a hamstring strain, the only thing we don't know is how bad it is because usually the scans are only done 48 hours after the accident. That will be done today [Wednesday]".
On Wilshere;
"Jack is progressing well, he is not back in training yet".
On Flamini;
"Mathieu is training, he could be available for the squad on Saturday".
On Gabriel;
"Gabriel may be [available] next week, he should come back into training on Sunday or Monday".
On whether the Monaco game will affect his team selection;
"No. We were at a high level of fatigue because we played against Monaco, Everton, QPR, Manchester United, all very physical games. I will have to test medically, physically, how the players are on Friday, and I will make my decision then. The big priority is of course West Ham".
First of all it's good to hear the manager saying that the priority is the West Ham game rather than the Monaco tie which is all but over. Please don't let us win that game 0-2 for God's sake. Secondly good news on Gabriel with him being close to training and also Flamini given that we are low on genuine central midfielders in the squad at the moment. It's really disappointing, however that there is no real news on Wilshere, it seems to me that, when Wenger uses the 'he is progressing well' phrase it always seems to mean that a player isn't really close to a comeback, let's hope i'm wrong on that one. Not surprising that there isn't any news on Chamberlain, lets just keep our fingers crossed that the reports from yesterday are not true and he is back sooner than expected.
Right that's it, let me know what you think in the comments, any early speculation on the West Ham game?
Subkectively, Cosmic Kid.
