John Cross, a renowned Arsenal fan and journalist, writing for The Mirror, has reported this evening that Arsenal's impressive young Right back, Hector Bellerin will sign a new contract, with it said to be 4 years long.
I really hope that this is true as Bellerin has been excellent in deputizing for the injured Debuchy, who has been out injured since January from that thuggisg push in the back from Stoke'sMarko Arnautovic, which Sky Sports somehow describing the incident as;
'The France defender tangled with Stoke midfielder Marko Arnautovic after 11 minutes and was left clutching his upper arm having slammed into the path around the pitch and then the promotional boards'.Yes I know that the incident happened in January and that it's old news but I'm still quite peeved by it, why is it that reporters can't describe an incident as it is? Like last night on Sky Sports again when Graeme Souness (who I actually like as a pundit) was asked if Chelsea harass referee's more than other club's and to me it seemed like he thought so, but wouldn't say it. Why not? It's what they are paid for. Now I could be completely wrong on Souness altogether, but that's just what I got from it.
Anyway back to the contract and the other question that has to be asked is about Carl Jenkinson, what does this mean for his future at Arsenal? Personally, even if Bellerin doesn't sign a new contract, I always thought he was off anyway, it is a pity though as I think he has been excellent at West Ham this season and looks as though he has a great future ahead of him. If he does leave, I wish him all the best. John Cross says that Arsenal are looking for £6 million for him, let's hope Arsenal put a buy back clause in it.
Right that's just about that, what do you think about our right back situation? Do you think Bellerin has earned the new contract? and if so, do you think he will be ahead of Debuchy in the pecking order? Do you think Jenkinson will be off? Would you like to keep him? Let me know what you think in the comments.
Subjectively, Cosmic Kid.
